I offer consultations  via Zoom or Skype, and specialise in exercise for those with long-term conditions, along with physical functioning in  older adults.

Exercise testing

I provide the following services to athletes who want to improve their performance:

-V02 testing by breath-by-breath analysis

-Power and lactate measurements

because proper training intensity and duration are critical for optimizing training plans, recovery, and performance

– Specific metrics may include

  • VO2max
  • Anaerobic threshold
  • Respiratory compensation point
  • Oxygen uptake efficiency (OUES)
  • Functional threshold power (FTP)
  • Critical power 
  • Energy cost/metabolism
  • Exercise economy
  • Determine appropriate heart rate training zones
  • Includes follow-up report and 30 minute online consultation. Tests performed at your location and/or on your own bike

For the general population:

If you want to improve health, fitness and everyday performance, I offer a Health & Fitness Check to assess your lifestyle, physical function and exercise capacity.

– Specific metrics include (to your requirements):

  • Blood pressure
  • Lung function (PEF,FEV1)
  • Nutrition analysis 
  • Body composition (Harpenden callipers/bioimpedance)
  • Functional/mobility screen 
  • Evaluation of Cardiorespiratory Fitness (a range of tests available – Wattbike Submaximal Tests, Chester Step Test, Shuttle/6min/Rockport Walk Tests)
  • Hip/Back and Grip dynamometry

Plus get a customised exercise prescription based on your results

Exercise for long-term conditions

I specialise in supporting clients with long-term health conditions and welcome referrals from your GP.  Consultations are available in-person or online

About

Rob Morrison is a certified exercise physiologist and human performance specialist. He is currently a doctoral researcher with a focus on contextualising exercise interventions for functional performance in older adults. Since 2002, he has worked with a wide range of clients covering diverse areas such as athletic performance, body re-composition, and exercise for older adults. Rob’s interests lie in cardiopulmonary exercise testing, exercise for chronic conditions, and physical functioning in older populations. His publications include:
